Dear Crazed Masses, Look What IIIIIIIIIIIIIII Have.....

And you can have it, if you want it bad enough.

Show me how bad you want it. And a proper prescription.

Over 100 reported cases of the swine flu now. Which works out to a staggering 0.0000326% of the population. I hope this craze is over soon. I'm getting tired of mocking you.

Yeah. The fact that people have died of it in Mexico does not impress. People die of diarrhea in Mexico. People die of all kinds of common diseases that we Northerners, at least those of us with group health insurance, safely live through. I think you could die of a hangnail in Mexico. In fact , probably more people have died of hangnails in Mexico this year that have of the flu. Perhaps I am making this up, but hell, I believe it.

Will be right in to stock up on Tamiflu after I've bought the supermarket out of flour, bread, long life milk, canned goods and paracetamol.

This totally ups your street cred!! But seriously, I thought Tamiflu was out and the newer anti-virals in.

So much for the shelf space you had to clear for the Plan B.
I have a gut feeling this H1N1 bastard is going to smolder along just below the surface of public interest for the remainder of the spring and summer, then re-emerge with a few subtle sequencing changes in the fall and drop us all where we stand. Bring out your dead!
Can't wait for all the overtime opportunities.

I can see it now:

Masked middled-aged mom with gun saying, "gimme the stuff...every last box and no one gets hurt."

Then I say...ok, but get your kid outta the toy aisle and then no one will die.

Every store in the city has sold out of face masks, and people keep coming in to buy them. What is so hilarious is that those cheap facemasks will do little to protect you from a virus as small as 20 to 50nm! Apparently you need a fitted N95 rated respirator mask to give you any protection at all. Do your research before you go crazy buying protective equipment people!

I'm about to go to work, if we have any face masks left from the truck I'm going to tell the first person buying them about the size of viral particles and the filtration capabilities of a cheapo mask. Let's see if they believe a word I say. After all what do those people in the white coats know anyway, uncle bob said to get a surgical mask to prevent getting the swine flu.

A kid threw up in my class today, so I licked the picture on the screen. I feel better now. Thanks.

Drugmonkey, I love you. Now if only we could talk some sense into everybody so I can get a day off!

This will turn out to be another big "nothing".

Great fodder for the media to whip up an "oh my god, we're all gonna' die" frenzy. Bullshit.

You can keep your Tamiflu and Relenza - I have it on good authority
(the substance abuser next door) that the only thing that will stave off the pig flu is Vicodin, Valium, and Soma. And maybe some oxycodone just to be on the safe side. So I'll be in shortly to pick those up.

When I was at work there was an e-mail from corporate that said Walgreen's stores will be getting a supply of TamiFlu and facemasks that are not to be sold to customers! Said they were for 'employee use'. Not much more explanation then that. How about that?

Tamiflu might be the equivalent of a placebo by how much its getting out. Resistance has been an issue for the last couple of months.

Question is: Are we scaring ourselves sh3tless now (mass hysteria and such) with a setup that is much worse later on?

Roche (now the proud owners of some Genentech ass besides Tamiflu) is going to extend the patent for a "new" indication no one gives a sh3t about till the next panic.

People need to seriously calm down...I had probably about 20 people come to the pharmacy and ask for masks....we were all out haha...and then probably about 20 more rxs for tamiflu...stupid doctors leaving them on the voicemail just so they didn't have to do anything else...we didn't have any tamiflu either

One of our professors at my pharmacy school said something about it on Thursday and one of the kids in my class shouted, 13,000 people died this year from the flu, who cares. Our professor then skipped ahead and didn't talk about it anymore. The only reason this is a big deal is b/c of the media. Drives me crazy.

Dude, I want everyone to know that some asshole called me from a place called The Compounding Center in Phoenix offering to sell me Tamiflu for my indie pharmacy. I tell the guy I already have plenty, but just out of curiosity I ask him how much they were.. then answer: $132. You read that right, a full $52+ over what I buy it for from Cardinal. I told the guy to get the fuck out of here, and would have kept going if I didn't have someone waiting to ask me a question!! So here's your mission everyone: Call these fuckers and tell them they're thieves for trying to do this, because we all know that no insurance company is going to pay you any more than $88 or so for this shit, and this prick is trying to sell it for $132!!

I wish we could get the rush supposedly everyone else is getting - We got sent a memo telling us to count all of our Tamiflu, and we have 240 boxes of it, because for some reason nobody here buys it, but corporate keeps sending it to us.

Yeah, the ever-honorable secondary wholesalers. Wonder what gangster's car trunk those (possibly) counterfeit Tamiflus sat in before entering the "legit" supply chain. Back when we couldn't get human albumin products it seemed we got a fax from a different secondary wholesaler every day, and the prices they quoted were outrageous. I expect we'll be hearing from those fine people again.

Master of All Things Pharmacy,

I can supply you with a steady stream of supple pleasure slaves, for one box of Tamiflu.

BWAHAHAHAHA!

All the pharmacies around here are out of any type of face masks and hand sanitizers.

Wish people would grow a brain.

Master of All Things Pharmacy

Update from Metro Detroit
(5 ring of hell...anyhoo)

The insanity continues. 3 high schools (in my area) are closed for the CDC suggestion of TWO WEEKS! For one case of pork chop coughs.

The teen mutants are bent because it is PROM WEEK and TBTB are talking about canceling the prom.

Limo, $1000 prom dress, $300 prom tickets, box of condoms, few bottles of Astro Glide, Plan B, new media card for the cam, that's a lot of money shot to hell.

I imagine this crap can't last much longer.

They have closed 3 schools in my area already. And people are already calling out "sick" with their "upper respiratory infections".
*sheesh*

Face masks are good for one important thing - they keep you from scratching your nose with infected fingers until such time as you can wash your hands. (And then reinfect them scratching at your nose through the mask, but I digress.)

I do realize I'm a bit late in reading this...however...I work for Walgreens, and it is true that they sent us Tamiflu for "employee use". It was supposed to be a really big deal, as they were sending one for everyone in the store. We were actually supposed to accept the delivery, and then count down the amount of Tamiflu that we actually have on hand, and literally put the box in the corner and forget that it exists, until the company tells us to open it. I personally really couldn't care less until I realized just how many doses they were sending us. 11. Just 11. There are 20-25 people working in the store..but only 11 doses. Figure that one out.
